Day 01 Huaraz – Yungay buried town – Lake Llanganuco - Huaraz

ITINERARY

Glorious guided day tour to Lake Llanganuco

Breakfast at 8:00 am departure at 9:00 am / trip length around 9 hours

After your breakfast we will pick up you at your hotel with our touristic transportation to drive to the north of Huaraz, along the rich callejon de huaylas valley, we make stop at overwhelming view point of anta to focus the most impressive view of Andes, including the exiting western Peru’s the highest peak mount Huascaran at (22,2059ft)

After that we continuing driving until old yungay, nowadays known as campo santo or buried town, which was destroyed by earthquake in 1970, it was the most terrible disaster that happen in this part of region, where about 20 thousand people disappeared and died. Then we continue driving to the east site toward the mountains, stopping at Huascaran national park control to pay the tour fees & checking.

then we continue driving into llanganuco valley between two huge granite rock walls in each sides until reach Lake llanganuco at 3850 m, where the valley start open up, with spectacular view to the background. The impressive lakes are lies between the northern flank of mount Huascaran and southern flank of mount huandoy, it has turquoise green and light blue waters, as soon as we arrive to the lake we will have option to walk around 20 minutes on the left bank of the lake to enjoy the great short hike through stunning nature or to do an awesome short boat trip on the lake for 20 minutes as well, or just take relax at the parking side.

After visiting the lake we come back to yungay, on the way back we will stop to have lunch at a nice mountain skirt restaurant Later we will visit caraz the last town to the north, where we will try delicious sweet product, which are made by milk and fruit, finally we come back to Huaraz.
